Great Kindle Version

If you are familiar with the PreTest series you know what you are getting here. Essentially this is a book full of medicine questions targeted at the undergraduate level. I personally found the questions to be a little too easy, and the answers werent as detailed as I would have liked.

A specific comment on the Kindle for Android version: This book is very well formatted for the Kindle app. All the questions are listed one after the other, followed by all of the answers. Thankfully each question has a direct link to the answer. This means that after you have answered all of the questions you can easily go back and forth between question and answer to check if you were right.

About the Author
I have bachelors and masters degrees in chemistry, and an MBA. I was with General Electric Company for 27 years working in many different areas of the Lamp Division. For the last 10 years of my GE career I was a glass specialist solving glass problems in plants, and training others to do so. The glass class I taught was very highly regarded. My career was cut short by the stroke. My experiences in recovery coupled with my teaching experiences are the motivation for this book.

Excellent book

This book should be standard issue in all hospitals and rehab units that work with people who have experienced a stroke. It is an inspiring story of a man who overcame, through sheer determination and positive attitude, much of the deleterious effects of his stroke. It also offers insights into how the rehab experience effects the family. There are a lot of inspiring quotations mixed in with the story which take on an important role when considering the gravity of the situation when one finds him/herself in this condition. I'd recommend this book to patients but also to professionals as well. Nurses, doctors, PT/OT and vocational rehab workers could all gain much insight into the dynamics of stroke patients and the importance of positive outlook on the recovery process.

This book offers a very touching and insightful look at the effects of a sudden stroke. Caldwell provides a first hand view of struggling with the effects and the long road to recovery. AN EXCELLENT PRIMER FOR ALL LAW STUDENTS EMBARKING ON THEIR LEGAL STUDIES

David Barker has updated his excellent text book which explains the subject of law in easily understandable terms for students and non-students alike. As with all the Routledge text books, this particular title is probably the best on the market as an introduction to the way in which the “Law” operates in England and Wales.

One of the main reasons why we consider the Routledge list of legal textbooks to be of outstanding value both in terms of cost and in content are the ways in which their commissioned authors (all legal experts) explain substantive legal issues in such a readable fashion.

For both tutors and students, a decision on which textbook or revision book to use is always difficult but it is clear to us from the feedback we have received from students that the Routledge texts lead the legal field. Many of their titles also have excellent links to websites sometimes marked as ‘companion websites’ which also add much assistance to the hard-pressed learner and is a great additional tool for all.

We would also say that the formats used by Routledge for their books are very much of a mainstream formula for legal texts which eases the student into methods of legal reasoning for those just beginning their legal studies and for all undergraduates: they certainly helped us with our preparation so do ensure you look very carefully at all the titles they have on offer!

David Barker has been most successful in re-writing major parts of the original text for the 13th edition to reflect new and substantial legislative changes made by the two government administrations over the last seven years.

The growth and influence of the European Union has also been well presented here to make this book the perfect introduction to this huge and complex subject for readers at different levels of study.

About the Author
Julie Lane was the pen name used by Amelia Catherine Houghton when she wrote The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus. This book was first published in 1932 by Santa Claus Publishing Company in Boston, Massachussetts. Amelia Houghton died in 1989 after a long and satisfying career as a public school administrator and teacher. The illustrator, Hokie, was Ms. Houghton's husband. He died in 1961.

Fabulous holiday entertainment for the whole family!

My family first heard this tale on audiocassette. It was narrated by Bill Everett, who did a wonderful job of bringing this story to life. After our youngest child was born, we purchased a car with a CD player, and since the book wasn't available on CD at the time, I purchased a paperback copy and read it to my youngest instead.

The book starts sadly when Nicholas (who is about five years old) loses his entire family during the course of one day---his father, a fisherman, is lost in a storm at sea; his tiny sister succumbs to illness; and his mother is struck by a falling tree while travelling through the windswept forest.

The families in his village each raise the orphaned boy for one year, and in gratitude, he makes Christmas toys for the children in each home. As he grows to manhood, Nicholas experiences a variety of adventures that lead to the adoption of the traditions associated with Santa Claus.
Unlike L. Frank Baum's The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus, there are no supernatural elements in this story, and not a single fairy in sight. When Nicholas finally dies of old age, the villagers are surprised to discover that someone has delivered the children's Christmas toys anyway, and one child concludes that Nicholas hasn't really died after all. No further explanation is offered, so I told my children that the child was right---the memory of Nicholas's generosity had survived him and inspired others to follow in his footsteps.

Please note that an abridged version of this book also exists: The Adventures of Nicholas: or The Wonderful Life and Complete Account of That Famous Toymaker and Children's Friend, Nicholas, Better Known as Santa Claus by Helen Siiteri (1966), which is also still in print. The original is longer (154 pages versus 82 in the abridged version) and better, and is highly recommended in both the print and audio versions.

Hard-to-find treasure

As a child, every Christmas Eve, my sisters and I would curl up by the tree sipping cider or cocoa while our dad read this aloud. In total, with one or two potty breaks it would usually take four hours. But the tale is so beautiful and heart-wrenching that it enraptured all of us (even as young children) I have been searching for this book for decades. I still have not been able to find a beautiful, large hardbound copy (as my parents have) but something is better than nothing. I KNOW my children will love this tale, and the tradition will continue for generations. This book is TRULY that special!!!

Christmas related themes, such as Holly, stockings, etc. are woven into this wonderful story of Santa's life as a boy to magical icon.. it has been a traditional read for many, many years.. The book makes a great gift for a child or family.

About the Author

Dustin Adkison

Dustin Adkison is an active member of the IBM Cognos community. He began his career in Business Intelligence at one of the premier Cognos customers, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee. After a short period, he became one of the Cognos administrators of a very large Cognos implementation as well as the training coordinator for all Cognos needs. While at BCBST, Dustin began to shape his skills in Cognos Report, which later became IBM Cognos 8 and IBM Cognos 10.

Dustin soon joined the Cognos consulting industry with Market Street Solutions (a Tennessee-based IBM Premier Partner that focuses on IBM Cognos). There he worked as both a consultant and a sales and presales resource. Dustin was an active member of the Atlanta and Tennessee Cognos User Groups during this time. He also further developed his skills around IBM Cognos and began presenting to various user communities.

For the last 5 years, Dustin has worked for BrightStar Partners and BSP Software, which are now owned by Avnet. He manages a team of sales resources, provides sales and technical sales support, and sets the direction for the sales team. Dustin is currently an active member of the Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, St. Louis, and Michigan User Groups. He has been a speaker at each of these User Groups in the past. In addition, he has presented at the Chattanooga, Nashville, Cincinnati, Columbus, Victoria, Toronto, and Vancouver User Groups as a guest.

As one of the leaders of the adoption of Cognos Express, Dustin was asked to present both on a panel and as an individual at IBM Information on Demand (IOD) and on a cfo.com webcast. Dustin has written about the importance of soft skills in the BI industry and has had his writings featured on various forums.

For the past two years, Dustin has been honored as an IBM Champion, an award that is given to the information leaders within the IBM space.

Cognos developers really love it! Dustin has explained Query Studio, Mobile and Framework Manager in a real nice easy way which you can expertize in just over a week.

For Cognos administrators, a good book to have it in your shelves. Here you can learn performance tuning within Cognos and what I see a missing links are the troubleshooting steps and IBM support coverage part of it. But this can easily be got in IBM product manual.

Charles Bell conducts research in emerging technologies. He is a member of the Oracle MySQL Development team and is the team lead for the MySQL Utilities team. He lives in a small town in rural Virginia with his loving wife. He received his Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2005. Dr. Bell is an expert in the database field and has extensive knowledge and experience in software development and systems engineering. His research interests include 3D printers, microcontrollers, three-dimensional printing, database systems, software engineering, and sensor networks. He spends his limited free time as a practicing Maker focusing on microcontroller projects and refinement of three-dimensional printers. Best Book On The Signal Chain and Databases for Sensors and The Internet of Things

Three important trends are affecting computing technology, embedded sensors and processors, and the internet. They are the proliferation, power and the inexpensiveness of embedded or physical computing, the availability of a variety of sensors for environmental, biological and physical phenomena that can be easily interfaced with microcontrollers, and finally the Internet of Things (IoT) a worldwide network, of sensors, processors and actuators which can sense and control our world. Dr. Charles Bell, of Oracle Corporation, a technologist providing guidance for the worlds most popular Open Source Database, MySql has filled an important lacuna in collecting data and analyzing sensors for physical computing systems and the IoT.

Dr. Bell clearly and succinctly documents such topics as wired and wireless sensors, physical computing including the Arduino and Raspberry Pi, Internet of Things services such as Xively (formerly COSM and Pachube), and of course local and cloud storage of sensor data in MySql. The book includes well documented code snippets necessary to implementation of sensor networks and IoT. He also documents and comments on other resources both in the form of publications and online sources which will contribute to implementing such sensor networks.

I found this book extremely useful in my own area of implementing Biosensor networks and preparing the signal chain from these sensors to databases (locally and in the cloud) where analytics can be applied. I highly recommend it to users and implementors of physical computing solutions, and Internet of Things applications.

Good starter book that covers Arduino and PI

Like most things I bought this for one of my nephews who is 9 but loves everything to do with programming and computers. We went through a couple of the starter ideas and he was hooked. Great book would buy again.

You don't have to be a child to enjoy this book!

Alabaster's Song is a story that you should own, even if you don't have a child. It is warm and sweet, and brings you back to the place where the child inside each one of us still lives.
As always, Max Lucado has the gift of reaching down into the depths of your heart and soul, and touching you, drawing you closer to God.
Make this book part of your library, part of your Christmas traditions. I read it each year to my "babies", who are now 19, 17, and 13. It is a tradition I will carry on with my grandchildren.

Wonderful story for Christmastime or anytime

This is a fabulous book that brings to mind the wonder of Christmas through a child's eyes. The illustrations are beautiful and the story is timeless and unforgettable! I read this story to my children, ages 11, 8, and 4, each year around Christmas. I even read it to my MOPS group as a Christmas reading last year. Thank you, Max Lucado, for another wonderful children's book!

Bring home the true meaning of Christmas to share.

I purchased this book for my two small boys--ages 7 and 3. We read it several days before Christmas and each night leading up to Christmas, it was the first book and the last book they wanted to read.

They learned what Christmas was about and my littlest conversed with the angels in our home on display asking if they were "Alabaster" and begging for them to tell him the story.

It is the only Christmas book that didn't get packed away 'til next year! My boys often find it on the shelf and pull it out to say, "Hi" to Alabaster.
This book will bring into your heart and your home the true meaning of Christmas to share with generations to come. You will recognize members of your family in the characters portrayed and desire to change and see how much more wonderful Christmas can be by remembering the story of Alabaster
