too similar to her others

You might enjoy this book if you've never read any of Hess's other books, but I have read several, in fact, I had just finished reading one of hers when I picked up this one. This book is exactly like several others of hers. It seems Ms. Hess simply changes the names and the storyline a bit but it is essentially the same book. The characters, the hero and heroine, the villains, they never change, they have no real depth to distinguish them as unique. They are exactly the same in every book. This is okay if you've only read one or two of her books, but it gets annoying after a while. They are all exactly the same in almost all her books. Another thing that bothered me is that one of the villains in this book is a woman named Raven, in another of Hess's books, her heroine is named Raven. It is not the same woman, but this still bothered me. Also, must she always name the horse Beauty? Can she not come up with something slightly more original? Also, in the book, she keeps emphasizing how the main villain, the heroine's uncle is fat. She keeps mentioning it and emphasizing it over and over again and I found it to be a bit excessive. Yeah, I heard you mention it the first time okay? I couldn't really like the hero or the heroine. The hero seemed to be selfish and have a tendency to jump to stupid conclusions as did the heroine. I enjoyed her other books better, I don't know if it is because I read them first or they were actually better, but I thought Raven and Wildfire were much better than this one.

Who Me?

Kane seemed to be a great guy-until he decided his crotch had more brains than him. Okay get this straight. He married her because he loved her-but didn't know if she loved him. It's not like they had don't anything to produce a baby-before the marriage. So why would this hardcore bachelor marry a woman who might never love him? And does this cause him to jump to stupid conclusions? I think it does. D'lise had a better reason. She had been beaten severly by her uncle and wary of all men-but didn't Kane prove himself time and again to be on her side. And the whole reason that things went to hell pretty fast-Kane made D'lise afraid of him after month's of marriage, went out got drunk, and went to their old house. Raven-ugly Indian woman-sneakes into his bed-she had been his "lady" and proceeded to make it look like he had been with her. D'lise gets made, doesn't ask for an explaination and leaves. Just dumb really really dumb. Jackass the lot of them. But there is a very good adventure to it read it. HEHEHE

ooooo I love this book

I loved how strong the heroine was in this book, and hated/loved the stupidity and stubbornness of the hero. Both had well written and explained personalities/tragedies/characteristics that the reader will either love or hate. This story definitely tugged on my heart strings a couple of times through out the book. My one little beef with this story was the whole apology scene. As you know with any romance story, there is a high and then a low and then a high again with the happy ending (oh, gosh I can't even recall what those particular moments are called--dang english classes don't fail me now!). I felt like she took back the hero too easily. I wish that there was a little more fight from the hero's end. It was almost too easy the way he won her back, and it made him seem like even more of a baby (b/c everyone was giving into his selfish desires so quickly and easily)

Great story

I've been reading books with main characters who are disabled in some way and came across this (I also recommend 'One Unashamed Night', different author). In doing so, I have found that I like this author's work very much and I've read at least six or seven of her books. Anyhow, this story follows Jake McPhearson (a minor character in 'The Wedding Promise' and a double amputee) and picks up after his wife, Lorenna ('Rena') dies. I encourage you to read 'The Wedding Promise' first (a great book). You'll have a better understanding of Jake, and a deeper sense of loss over his 'Rena' if you do, although this book certainly can stand alone. His son's teacher comes to pay the angry, rude recluse a visit and things go from there. One of Davidson's better works to be sure.

I have read most of this author's work and loved it. This story was so real and beautiful. the hea is slow to build between the main characters and realistic. These are real people with real problems who find love together. I read this in one night and recommend it to anyone. It is set in an old west time frame but is a story that transcends time.

Dispel all false notions of who Rice is

Nola Cancel asks the questions that draw the most thoughtful, the most candid, and the most heartfelt responses from this celebrated author and public figure, Anne Rice. It is easy to dismiss Rice as "that vampire author." Here, we get a pure glimpse of Rice, and, I think, coupled with the spiritual memoir Called Out of Darkness, we will get to know this woman who is at once extraordinary and yet very human just like the rest of us.

This is an inspiring work! Anne has both swimming pool shod feet firmly planted on the ground. We see her honesty, generosity, and spunk.

Interesting interview.

I could be biased because I am an Anne Rice fan, however I did find the book interesting. The reader gets another view of the author. I appreciate that the interviewer kept a good balance between professionalism and Mrs. Rice's private life. I appreciate not getting lost in the scope of the subjects discussed. Anne Rice simply told the interviewer her ideas on whatever topic came up and there was not any invasion of privacy at any point or attacks on Rice's beliefs. It was a good interview.

I've followed Anne's career for well over 30 years. I find her personally and professionally inspiring, I've read the bios, the Michael Riley book and numerous interviews. With Nola, there's a real warmth present between interviewer and subject. A trust, that comes across on each page as a friend responding to a friend, yet meant for public consumption. Anne discusses it all - spirituality and religion, culture and inspiration - and it's as if we're hearing her thoughts, stories and opinions for the first time.
