Chechnya’s Terrorist Network is a great book

Chechnya’s Terrorist Network is a great book that offers a comprehensive history of the evolution of the North Caucasus terrorist network. The author does a great job connecting the first and the second Chechen conflicts and tracing how the North Caucasus insurgency is linked to the threat of terrorism in Russia. This is the most complete account I have seen that describes the development of the terrorist threat in Russia and Russia’s counter responses. The book explains how the ideology behind North Caucasus terrorism has changed and how the threat is becoming potentially more dangerous and more linked to groups like ISIS. The book includes a lot of valuable statistics on terrorism from the North Caucasus. Statistical graphs and charts also provide a visual representation of the trends.

A balanced account of the situation in and around Chechnya in the 1990s and 2000s

Dr. Pokalova’s book “Chechnya’s Terrorist Network” is based on an impressive amount of factual material (multiple quotations from the Russian media). It provides a significant account of the history of unrest in the Russian Northern Caucasus in the last decades.
Evidently, the author’s main focus is insurgency in Chechnya and Moscow’s reaction to separatism and terrorism in this area and beyond. It brings to the table thorough detailed analyses of both Chechen wars of the 1990s and 2000s, it looks at terrorism as corollary of the separatism and the conflicts that evolves with the time. The author talks substantially about the development of tactics and strategies of the terrorism in the Northern Caucasus.
The reader will receive a good grasp of information on the iconic Chechen insurgents, such as Basayev, Umarov, etc.
It’s also worth noting that the author manages to be extremely balanced. She shares diverse perspectives. She looks at the official version of the events, as well as their interpretations in independent media, in the West, and among insurgents.

Good book with one caveat

Good book, with several great lessons. I see myself holding onto the book and rereading again in the future

My small concern is that I feel some of the lessons are slipping out of touch with modern society, or apply for people who are in a better financial position then I am. As a 26 year old, when I have dinner parties I don't see myself making multiple courses, or having a potluck in Martha's vineyard where dinner is cooked over cannon balls. I also don't have the wardrobe that is needed to fit in most social situations, but like any book, take it with a grain of salt and apply a little bit of yourself to the situation.

I bought this for my 20- something son. it succeeds in being non threatening, conversational, but quite comprehensive. it constantly refers to a survey of women and their expectations of men, which gives it a more objective air.not too long. Recommended.

Excellent resource

I highly recommend "Dollhouse Decor: Creating Soft Furnishings in 1/12 Scale" to anyone interested in furnishing dollhouses or just at looking at pictures of how others have furnished theirs. The Forder's book is arranged by periods of style, and goes into a bit of detail about what makes each period's style unique. The projects are designed for all skill levels, from those who work best with a bit of glue and a pair of scissors, to those who enjoy doing their own weaving. Each project is preceded by a symbol to let the reader know the level of skill required. Yet regardless of the level, all the projects are well explained.
Equally enjoyable is the photography. There are none of the grainy pictures that are so annoying in some dollhouse books. Each photograph is large and clear, and shows the meticulous level of detail that the Forders put into their work.

About the Author
Ramona Nelson, PhD, BC-RN, FAAN, ANEF, is president of her own informatic consulting company. Her consulting work has focused on the integration of informatics in healthcare education and the use of internet based technology in the education process. Prior to that Dr. Nelson was Professor of Nursing and Chair of the Department of Nursing, Slippery Rock University, PA. Dr. Nelson currently serves as Chair of the NLN Educational Technology and Information Management Advisory Council and is a member of the ANA Committee on Nursing Practice Information Infrastructure. In 2008, because of her pioneering work in informatics, she was invited to participate as a member of the task force charged with revising the Scope and Standards of Nursing Informatics, which was published that year by ANA. Her past publications include textbooks, monographs, book chapters, journal articles, WWW publications, abstracts and newsletters. She is author of the 5th edition of" Introduction to Computers for Health Professions "(2005) and "Healthcare Informatics: An Interdisciplianry Approach "(2002). Dr. Nelson is an active member of professional organizations including NLN, ANA, HIMSS, ANIA-Caring.

The Best AP European History Study Guide Available- Period!

This an an excellent study guide for the 2016 AP Euro exam. I self-studied for the exam this year and can say with confidence that the Princeton Review AP Euro series contains a tremendous amount of AP Euro content and strategies. In order to study for the exam, I watched YouTube videos, did questions on Learnorator, and read two review books. This strategy was extremely effective; I was confident answering almost every question on the test. If you are aiming for less than what I wanted, lower than a 4 or 5, this book alone will most likely earn you it.

Inside the review book, there are around 450 pages of varying categories. The book contains tips for each section of the exam, a 200 page content review section, and two practice exams with answer explanations provided. There are content chapters from 1450-1648, 1648-1815, 1815-1914, and 1914-the present day. Each is quite lengthy and should be done over multiple sittings. In addition, at the end of each content chapter, a quiz of around 20 questions is given. These are great estimators of what you know about the content chapters.

Compared to the REA AP Euro book, which I also read, this book is much more detailed and comprehensive. The REA book is only an outline for the test content and does not provide detailed descriptions of what occurred from 1450-the present day in Europe. However, it does provide a great summary of the material most likely to be on the test. Therefore, I would recommend using the REA book as a last-minute cramming tool on the day of the exam.

Actively reading the Princeton Review AP Euro book two times over (this means taking notes in the margins and underlining key information) will expose any diligent reader to the content necessary for success on the exam. This will probably account for around 30 hours of one's time- a worthwhile investment when the savings of AP credit are taken into account.

Overall, the Princeton Review AP Euro series is a fantastic review book. Those who took the 2016 exam and read it like me will likely agree!

the most useful part of this book was the chapters that thoroughly explain how to get full scores on the DBQ/long essay. if you feel like your Euro teacher hasn't explained the AP essay scoring system well, then you should definitely get this book.
in addition, the practice tests line up pretty well with the actual format of the AP test. when it comes to the information sections, obviously princeton review loves to way over-prepare its students. So those sections are extremely detailed and not good for a quick review. that being said, if you want to score a 5 you will appreciate the feeling of being over prepared. I found it most helpful to read through the chapters alongside my class notes so that i could figure out which information was the most essential. You do not have to know all of the people/events mentioned in this book to get a 5, so focus on the ones you learned in class!!
finally, the timelines are extremely useful but much too detailed; i highlighted the important dates in the timelines and used them to review which events occurred in specific centuries.
i'd say one of the big weaknesses of this book is that there is no comparison between the different types of art (renaissance, baroque, neoclassicism, romanticism etc.) Yes, they are all discussed in the book, but they are not compared side-by-side. other than that, this book is a must-buy for those who want a good score.

I liked it a lot... It gave a lot of good tips, which you better be studying for months in advance... that was my problem... I started studying in April so that was not the best idea (I got a 2)... so don't trust the "guaranteed 5"... and don't procrastinate!

I've been disappointed by plenty of hopeful encounters that just turned into ...

I'm 23 and single. And saying I'm single is weird for me, because I have nothing to compare it to. I've never been in a relationship in any shape or form. I've done as much with boys in my whole life as I did at 4 years old (giving winks on the playground lol). And you don't say you're single at 4 years old. You just say...I am 4 years old (lol). Romance is so foreign to me but heartbreak is not. I've been disappointed by plenty of hopeful encounters that just turned into friendly or brother-sister kind of relationships. I've dreamed it all and done nothing folks. But when I found and read this book one day in New York. My mind split right open, because it felt like he had been in it. He covers it all. He didn't leave one ounce of my heart soul or mind out. I felt like being single and saved was not just this cool thing that you did at church and left at the pew on a Saturday night. It is a real, possible 24/7 thing you can do heart, mind, and soul. How many people believe this? I didn't. I was pure physically, but every other area was contaminated, And that's where Christ comes in. Kissing Dating Goodbye is not a cult folks. It is a miraculous gift that is only God given. It can't be forced upon or ritualized. It is the Holy Spirit that moves and conquers these almost impossible mountains in the age of our culture and time. Because of my renewed foundation in Christ, I am daily walking in 24/7 purity, not by my might. But God's alone. And because miracles exist, I am daily falling for an invisible man who's face I've never seen and who's heart I consistently grow to know. Who died and rose again 2,000 years before I was born. And lives in a Kingdom I've never seen yet lives in me. IF that's not a miracle. I don't know WHAT is!

Great book for relationships

My girlfriend and I have been dating for almost 4 years and we wanted to do things right before getting married and this book has really helped me to understand what a proper healthy relationship looks like.

Highly recommend. It's making our relationship stronger and more spirit-led already!

Love, love, love this book!

I first read this book 15 years ago and it truly revolutionized my ideas on dating and has given me practical ways to avoid the common pitfalls of dating. I have given it to many people over the years and without fail, anyone who took the time to read it has come back to me and thanked me over and over for giving them something that has changed how they view the whole dating scene and to have a better way of approaching it all. Truly has changed my life! Can't recommend it enough. Joshua Harris has also written a review on a book called "His Perfect Faithfulness" by Eric and Leslie Ludy, a true account of their beautiful love story based on God's principle of "courtship" as opposed to dating in moving toward a committed relationship. A beautiful, all you could hope for, love story on how it can be done and have the very best anyone could ever hope for in that. Hope this helps even one person find their own "true love story" !
