Another Page Turner!

Fog left readers hanging, and Ice begins with a fall. Literally. As the story unfolds, we find out what happened to Micka over the past two years at the hands of the BSA. Now, the scars that she carved on her flesh as a child is nothing compared to the ones that she carries inside. As she undertakes a journey to destroy the BSA, she also finds the courage to heal and trust.
Gritty, brutal, and at times, beautiful. This dystopian novel explores both the light and dark of humanity and kept me turning the pages. Not for the faint of heart.

Brutal, beautiful, inventive and real

I have loved every book this author has written, even (and especially) when the subject matter is dark and difficult. The writing style is unique. It somehow combines the incredible inventiveness and freshness normally found in lighter genre fair (like all those sci fis with great premises but poor execution that we all are disappointed by--there is no disappointment here), really good writing, really good editing, and the depth and complexity of topic and voice normally only found in haunting autobiographical books. There is also no melodrama here, no taking advantage of our emotions or deepening connections with the characters--we feel real emotions that are rooted in the reality and matter of factness of the book world.
Her stories are fun, they're horrific, they're interesting, they're surprising. There is no excess in her writing--nothing is written that is not necessary--but there is no feeling of brevity either. The balance in the pacing is really quite amazing. There is good forward momentum, even when there are flashback scenes. I will have her characters living in my head and memories for quite some time, possibly always. The main characters of her series are so real it's hard to believe they are not. "Ice" is brutal, beautiful, inventive, and real, and certainly worth reading.

I have been waiting for this book in the series...and it did not disappoint! I have followed Micka's journey and really want to find out how it all ends. This is a great series....heart wrenching and graphic .....but so is life! Cant wait for book 4.....highly recommend.
